Town Planning Permit Process

Site Inspection, Planning Review & Report Preparation

Town Planning Permit Process – We begin by conducting a thorough site inspection and reviewing your preliminary plans. Our team then offers feedback to enhance your project and prepares a comprehensive Planning Report to accompany your permit application.

Application Lodgment, Assessment & Feedback

We will handle the lodgment of your permit application and typically receive preliminary feedback within 28 days. Our team will collaborate with the project team and the Responsible Authority to ensure that the application progresses to public notice (advertising) promptly, as required.

If the initial assessment determines further information is required to complete a comprehensive assessment of the application, a request for further information will be made by the Planning Officer.

Town Planning Permit Process- Final Assessment & Decision Review

If an application is required to be advertised, a notice period of at least 14 days is undertaken, with a sign placed on site and letters sent to adjoining owners and occupants. Residents concerned about the application may submit an objection. After the public notice period ends, our team will review the feedback received from interested parties. We will then take any necessary steps to assist you in reaching a favourable decision. We will also take the time to discuss all relevant Conditions of Approval with you.

A Planning Officer generally makes a decision under delegation on behalf of the Council. If an application receives five or more objections or a Councillor chooses to call an application to a Council meeting, the Council must issue the decision. Council meetings generally only run once a month, which may delay the decision.
